Swans Junior Cup – Information

Parking
As always, parking will be at a premium on Sunday 23 April at the Kearney’s Spring Sports Complex. There will be a shuttle bus running from Freying Park, cnr Ruthven and Nelson Streets from 7:15am all day, for your convenience. Freyling park has ample parking to accommodate the parents and supporters of our amazing 147 teams attending – please use it.
Please DO NOT park in the bus zone or disabled parks unless you have a permit! Note that parking on the footpath along Ruthven Street is illegal – fines may apply.

Field Map
The map shows all amenities available at Kearney’s Spring for the day. When putting up tents in designated areas please note that the thin white line markings indicate underground water and electrical services – DON’T hammer anything into the ground near these marks! Tents in non-designated areas are not permitted. You will see in the attached field map that there is a gate in Ruthven Street (between fields 10 and 16) which is only to be used to drop off your tents. Once the tents have been dropped off, the vehicle is to be removed from that area. For safety reasons, this gate will not be accessible after 8am.

Please note that the U10 fields (16-21) and Fields 13, 14 and 15 are not visibly numbered. If you need help to find your field ask!

Results – 2016 Swans Junior Cup

This year’s Swans Junior Cup (1st round of the Titans Tri-Series) was our biggest ever with a total of 132 teams from south-east and south-west Qld competing in the 10 divisions on offer. Toowoomba turned on beautiful weather for the day (except for a brief shower late in the afternoon) which made for very pleasant playing conditions. It was great to have Titans player (and former SWQ Swans player), Ash Taylor, on hand to present the medallions to the winners and runners-up in each division. Thanks Ash and thank you to Darren Robb (Titans Development Manager) for making that possible.

SWQ Touch would like to pass on our appreciation to the organisers and coaching staff at each of the affiliates for providing their members with the opportunity to play at our event. We would also like to thank the many referees who officiated, our referee coordinators (GT & Helen), our admin staff (Geoff, Caitlin & Maree), Kev & Artie of Toowoomba Touch and Jamie & Scott of Qld Touch for their assistance during the day. We also appreciate the support given to us by Toowoomba Softball who allowed us to use their fields, Toowoomba Regional Council for preparing those fields at short notice and the Glenvale Branch of the Toowoomba Scouts for providing a number of volunteers on the day.

Congratulations to the following teams on winning their divisions and we wish all teams the best of the luck for the rest of the junior representative season:

  • 10 Boys                 Toowoomba White
  • 10 Girls                 BMTA Red
  • 12 Boys                 Gold Coast 1
  • 12 Girls                 Toowoomba White
  • 14 Boys                 Gold Coast 1
  • 14 Girls                 Gold Coast 1
  • 16 Boys                 Gold Coast 1
  • 16 Girls                 Gold Coast 1
  • 18 Boys                 Labrador
  • 18 Girls                 Toowoomba

2016 Swans Junior Cup Update

Please find listed below some information about the Swans Junior Cup:

Field Map

Field Map – 2016 Swans Junior Cup

Tents

You will see in the attached field map that there is a gate in Ruthven Street (between fields 10 and 15) which is only to be used to drop off your tents. Once the tents have been dropped off, the vehicle is to be removed from that area. For safety reasons, this gate will not be accessible after 8am. NB. Tents are only to be placed in the areas marked on the map. Council has marked (in blue) the locations of the water pipe and electricity cables so please DO NOT put your tent pegs anywhere near those markings.

Car Park / Shuttle Bus

The car park at the Toowoomba Touch fields will not hold all of the vehicles so a 2nd car park has been set up at Freyling Park which is situated on the corner of Ruthven & Nelson Streets. Freyling Park is approximately 700 metres south of the touch fields and it will comfortably cater for the remaining vehicles. Access to this area is via Nelson Street, i.e. about 20 metres from the Ruthven / Nelson Streets intersection.

A number of volunteers from a local Scouts group will manage the parking at this area to ensure the safe flow of traffic into and out of the park. A shuttle bus will be available to drop patrons down to the touch fields in the morning and back to Freyling Park at the conclusion of the event. For safety reasons, we recommend you use the shuttle bus rather than crossing Ruthven Street.

Illegal Parking

The police will no doubt be keeping an eye on vehicles that are parked illegally around the Kearney’s Spring complex so please advise your members to only park in designated parking areas. As previously mentioned, the 2 car parks that are available will comfortably hold all vehicles.

Referees

Referees are requested to go straight to the referees tent when they arrive on Sunday morning and make themselves known to Greg Taylor and Helen del Castillo who are doing the allocations. With the 1st round of games commencing at 8.30am, it would be appreciated if the referees could be there before 8am as this will greatly assist Greg and Helen with the allocation process. Each referee will be provided with an $8 food and drink voucher which can only be used at the canteen. The referees will be required to complete a bank account details form and hand it in to Greg or Helen. Payment will be processed into the nominated account by Thursday (28th).

Conditions of Entry

Please note that a change has been made to the Conditions of Entry in relation to Item 4. Managers Meeting and Item 15. Game Duration.

Managers Meeting – due to time constraints, there will be no managers meeting so the following document contains information that would normally be mentioned at that meeting.

Managers Meeting

Game Duration – due to the number of teams that have nominated this year (132), the games will now be 12 minutes each way with a 2 minute half-time break.
